About Us

Rooted in the rich heritage of the A·chik community, inspired by visionary leadership.

The College is named after the two important and influential legendary figures of A·chik ethnic group. The name of late Shri Purno Agitok Sangma (1947–2016) still echoes in every nook and corner of Garo hills and occupies a soft spot in the hearts of many Indians’ to the present day. He was a Professor, an Advocate, a Journalist turned Politician and Statesman. He became one of the most powerful Politicians in Indian scenario. He served as the Speaker of Lok Sabha from 1996–1998 and Chief Minister of Meghalaya from 1988–1990. He was awarded the Padma Vibhushan India’s second highest Civilian award, posthumously in 2017 in the field of Public Affairs. He was the first recipient of Padma Vibhushan from Meghalaya. Since the beginning of his political career in 1977; Sangma won nine straight Lok Sabha elections. He was popularly and aptly known as the short man from Garo Hills, the tallest Nort East leader in New Delhi.

Abong Noga, a supposed king was revered as pioneer among the A·chik society. The A·chik followed nomadic pattern of living before coming to the Nokrek peak of Tura Range. It was the king Abong Noga who brought the A·chik to that region and initiated sedentary settlement pattern. With the passage of time, the population grew in size and space they occupy expanded, which later on came to be known as Garo hills. The legend of Abong Noga was not established on imaginary concept but based on real life events and characters. This is testified by the physical remains of Kosi in Nokrek Peak, the said abode of Abong Noga. Kosi is an ancient tradition of raising stone monuments on certain important social events among the A·chik.

PASF institute and Abong Noga College were built separately and developed independently. PASF institute was established in the year 2011, while Abong Noga in the year 2005. As the students’ population grew the demand for seats in colleges increased. In order to cater to the need of the situation with a view of providing the best platform for the student community; PASF and Abong Noga College agreed to make a merger. The two entities officially merged on August 2, 2012. After having consolidated as one fraternity, PASF-Abong Noga College has opened BA Degree course from 2022–2023 Academic Session.
